This is the process we need to follow if we are to be able to burn live subtitles into picture here that can be adjusted at a later date.

- Original picture need to be transcribed with in/out timecodes for dialogue in English. This can take a while as it is not just a matter of writing down what is said - it is often necessary to summarise what is said so that it reads well on the run.

- A timecoded spreadsheet will then be supplied to the translator, along with a BITC H264 - so that the translator can supply the spreadsheet back with the translations in the right-most column.

- This spreadsheet will then be returned to The Look, and burned in subtitles generated.

- A Quicktime reference will be generated which needs to go both to the client and the translator to check that they are happy with the pace and that it reads well.

- Any amendments MUST be updated as they are to appear on screen in the right-most column of the spreadsheet.

- The spreadsheet must be supplied back as a version up.

** It is not acceptable to write anything in the spreadsheet such as 'GET RID OF THIS' as these words will appear on screen.

If there are any notes such as 'line wrap on this word instead...' these should be written in the column to the right of the translation in red.

Subtitles will be updated and the process for sign off followed again until client/translator are happy that the pace of the titles is good, and the layout/format is acceptable.

We then need to export the titles as a TIFF sequence which needs to be brought into our online system. This is quite a lengthy process and takes about five times slower than real time to import and render.
